Responsibilities
Must have minimum of two years experience in design, development, and integration of aircraft hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical systems, and two years overseeing design and development of engineering projects. Requires experience in accomplishing airworthiness, loads, stress, and weight and balance analysis in support of systems integration.
Tasks:
- Provide highly technical expertise and guidance in solving complex engineering problems for C‑130 Special Mission Aircraft undergoing heavy depot level maintenance and modification.
- Perform all phases of hardware design, development, integration/implementation, and analysis.
- Plan and conduct engineering feasibility studies for design improvement modifications and implementation of advanced technologies.
- Develop standards and guidelines for tasks including generation of Tailored Airworthiness Certification Criteria (TACC) or modification of such criteria in the Modified Airworthiness Certification Criteria (MACC).
- Develop structural and corrosion repairs.
Education
- Master’s or Doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET highly desired) with ten years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline, five years of which must be in the DoD or other USG ISR/SOF Organizations.
- OR Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET highly desired) with twelve years of experience in the discipline, five of which must be in DoD or other USG ISR/SOF Organizations.
Physical Requirements
This position frequently requires ascending/descending aircraft crew doors, aircraft stands, flight deck ladders, work stand ladders, common ladders, and confined spaces, including walking on wings, cargo bays, hangars, and dealing with trip hazards, sharp edges, cords/hoses on floors, cargo decks, wing stands, deck floors, and falling objects. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Work environment is a combination of desk work (computer) and frequently working in an industrial work setting with access everywhere on an aircraft.
Noise protection and goggles/safety glasses must be worn in designated work areas.
