Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist

Overview

The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for supporting and administering site-level environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This role works closely with Operations, Facilities, Quality, and HR to promote a strong safety culture, reduce risk, and support audit readiness within a manufacturing environment. The EHS Specialist plays a key role in day-to-day safety activities, training, inspections, and incident prevention while assisting leadership with continuous improvement initiatives.

Crestview Aerospace is a manufacturing organization working closely with large aircraft and weapon systems OEMs, such as Boeing Defense, Bell, RTX/Collins Aerospace, Northrop Grumman and several others to deliver complex design-to-build and build-to print assemblies. Crestview Aerospace provides these assemblies in support of in-service platforms, such as: H-47, V-22, F-35, F-15, F-16, F-18, KC-135, E-2, and weapon systems such as Harpoon and SLAM-ER.

Crestview Aerospace is comprised of two (2) manufacturing sites, with operations in St. Louis, Missouri and Crestview, FL, and employs approximately 300 professionals.

Environmental, Health & Safety Compliance

• Support and maintain compliance with EPA, OSHA, DOT, and applicable state and local regulations
• Assist with implementation and enforcement of company safety policies and procedures
• Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments
• Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and recommend corrective actions

Incident Management & Risk Reduction

• Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions
• Track and trend safety incidents, near misses, and leading indicators
• Support workers' compensation documentation and reporting as required

Training & Safety Culture

• Coordinate and deliver safety training, orientations, and refresher courses
• Support toolbox talks, safety meetings, and employee safety communications
• Promote employee engagement in safety programs and initiatives

Environmental Programs

• Assist with hazardous material handling, storage, labeling, and disposal
• Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical inventory records
• Support waste management, environmental reporting, and permit requirements

Audits, Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain EHS records, logs, permits, and inspection documentation
• Support internal and external audits (OSHA, EPA, customer, insurance, AS9100 support)
• Assist in preparing reports and metrics related to EHS performance

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Partner with Operations, Facilities, Quality, and HR on safety and compliance initiatives
• Support ergonomic assessments and job hazard analyses (JHA/JSA)
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts to reduce risk and improve workplace safety

Required Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 2-5 years of experience supporting EHS programs in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Working knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations and general industrial safety standards
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in aerospace, manufacturing, or regulated environments
• Familiarity with EPA regulations and hazardous waste management and permits
• OSHA 10/30 certification
• Experience supporting audits and compliance programs
• First Aid / CPR certification

Work Environment

• Primarily works in a manufacturing setting with exposure to machinery and production equipment.
• Requires standing for extended periods and occasional lifting of materials.
• May involve occasional travel to suppliers or other company locations.

Physical Requirements

Primarily manufacturing/assembly environment. Must be able to work in the following environmental conditions: noise, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current. Must be able to bend and reach. Must have close visual acuity such as viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines, and/or assembly or fabrication parts at close distance to the eyes.

Must be able to communicate effectively. Must be able to maneuver up to 20 pounds. Will be performing substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
