Job Opportunity at Mother Teresa Catholic Academy

The Diocese of Joliet Catholic Schools is seeking a full-time benefit eligible teacher for Mother Teresa Catholic Academy in Crete, IL, starting August 1, 2026. The teacher will play a significant role in conveying the Catholic Church's message and mission.

The teacher will:

• Understand and implement the educational and spiritual philosophy of the local school
• Observe the Code of Professional Ethics
• Instruct children in assigned subjects and adjust instructional level to meet individual student needs
• Attend professional duties such as planning lessons, preparing materials, and serving on diocesan staff committees
• Participate in faculty meetings and in-service training opportunities
• Complete Catholic Identity Formation Training and other required professional development
• Supervise children and maintain discipline on the premises
• Be present during class periods and have general knowledge of student information
• Secure the principal's approval for important communications with parents
• Encourage student responsibility and contribute to their physical, mental, and spiritual well-being
• Report student progress to the principal and parents
• Work with parents to assist them in their role as primary educators
• Communicate professionally with school administration, pastor, parish priests, colleagues, students, parents, and prospective parents
• Use technology to enhance student learning
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the principal or pastor

Candidates must hold a current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or a valid out-of-state certificate from a state with which Illinois has reciprocity. A bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a related discipline is required. Practicing Catholic is preferred, especially for teaching religion or theology courses.
