Reporting to the VP for Integrated Marketing, the Grant Writer & Research Specialist (GWRS) produces compelling proposals and ministry reports for foundations and major donors, and researches new grant opportunities. These materials, typically presented by the organization’s fundraisers, strengthen Bible League International’s (BLI) relationships with foundations and donors, and lay the groundwork for future partnership to fund BLI ministry initiatives. As such, the position is integral to meeting BLI’s Development income goals.
Finished writing projects should clearly demonstrate a solid grasp of BLI’s mission and ministry programs as well as the donor’s impact.
The Grant Writer & Research Specialist also supports the Integrated Marketing team’s work through editing, proofreading, researching, and contributing to other writing projects as assigned. They also must demonstrate attention to detail, be well organized, and be able to work both independently and collaboratively. The GWRS must also be able to handle confidential information with a high level of integrity, prioritize tasks, be dependable, and manage a robust workload.
Duties- Prospect Research: Identify and assess medium to high level funding opportunities from foundations that align with Bible League’s mission.
- Proposal Development: Write, edit, and submit high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry (LOIs), and concept notes.
- Relationship Management: Work with donor relations team members to cultivate and maintain positive relationships with current and prospective funders.
- Grant Compliance & Reporting: Track awarded grants, ensuring all reporting requirements and deadlines are met, and monitoring project outcomes. Develop year-end reports to foundation and major donors that articulate and demonstrate the impact of their grants/gifts.
- Collaboration: Work with marketing, donor relations, program, finance, and leadership teams to gather data, develop budgets, and align proposals and reports with organizational
- Mission Alignment: Ensure all proposals and communications adhere to the organization’s Statement of Faith and core philosophies (Mission, Funding, and Leadership).
- Case for Support Development: Translate spiritual impact and program outcomes into compelling narratives that resonate with foundations and donors’ own hearts for Serve as a “storyteller” who represents the “mind, heart, and soul” of Bible League to the foundations and major donors who support it.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Responsible to: VP Integrated Marketing.
- Collaborate with: EVP-Advancement, Marketing Team, Donor Relations team, Program and Finance staff, Regional Directors and other field staff
- Must be a Christian, having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Must also agree with ourstatement of faith and conduct his/herself in a Christ-like manner.
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or English is preferred, and/or comparable experience and skills.
- At least 3 years of experience writing grant proposals specifically for not-for-profit fundraising.
- Proven track record of producing donor-centric communications. Familiar with foundation fundraising and/or able to quickly learn about foundation issues, trends, and developments.
- Cross-cultural experience working with international organizations strongly preferred.
