Purpose of Job
To assist peer writers working in Spanish at any stage of the writing process (brainstorming, organization, proofreading, generating ideas, researching, etc.) for any purpose (academic, professional, or personal) via writing consultations, emails, or asynchronous feedback.
General Description and Duties
* Lead consultations with writers working in Spanish (at any stage of the writing process)
* Work with student writers to ensure adherence to a text's instructions or purpose
* Guide student writers through necessary citation methods (APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.)
* Document and record accurate data
* Assist students in scheduling appointments as needed
* Assist in training new Spanish Writing Consultants
* Attend regular meetings and training sessions as scheduled
* Plan & host public writing events
* Create Spanish writing resources for campus community
* Promote the Writing Center across campus
* Attend Student Leadership Summit, April 26, 2026
Special Skills or Knowledge Required
* Minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA
* Excellent oral and written communication
* Ability to work well with peers in a polite, calm manner
* Ability to work with a diverse student body
* Confidence and enthusiasm about writing
* Open to learning, sharing, and reflecting about writing
* Problem-solving and critical thinking on language and writing
Total Weekly Hours Required Minimum of 6 hours/week; maximum of 17 hours/week/$15 per hour Physical Demands
