MISSION
The Tiger Mentorship Program’s mission is to provide all students in their first year at Doane with the relationships and resources needed to enhance their collegiate experience and allow them to experience academic and personal success. Mentors provide Mentees the tools to increase their access to success by addressing personal, situational, and systemic obstacles.
VISION
The Tiger Mentorship Program will build peer relationships regardless of race, gender, sexual identity or orientation, income level, disability, religion, and/or First Generation status in order to provide holistic guidance and support that equips Mentees to overcome obstacles and thrive in all areas as a member of the Doane Community.
GOALS
- Provide students with successful student mentors of similar race, background, ethnic diversity, gender identity, major, and/or extracurricular involvement.
- Provide identified students with supportive activities, interventions, and cultural experiences that foster a sense of belonging with other students, faculty & staff, and campus life.
- Develop integrated, accessible, and high-visibility services to create a culture of academic growth and personal success.
- Assist with Welcome Week activities and sessions
- Facilitate weekly meetings with each Mentee once per week during the Fall Semester
- TRIO Mentees
- International Mentees
- Academic Mentees
- Attend weekly Team Meetings
- Maintain accurate and confidential observations, notes, records, and complete reports that are submitted to the Program Coordinators
- Help Mentees become familiarized with campus resources, and refer students to appropriate resources as the need arises
- Remain in good personal and academic standing with Doane University
- Model appropriate academic and social behavior
- Maintain Mentee confidentiality
- Attend the required Student Leadership Summit on Sunday, April 26, 2026
- 12 hours of asynchronous training over the summer (stipend)
- Attend required training prior to Welcome Week (stipend, dates TBA )
- Attend ongoing training throughout the fall semester during weekly team meetings
- Sophomore standing or above
- 2.5
* cumulative GPA or higher- * Students with GPA
