Position Summary
The Branch Manager organizes, supports, and leads a team while consistently demonstrating a high level of customer service. They promote a needs‑based sales culture while striving to create and maintain a professional relationship with business clients, customers, and staff members. This professional works with various types of loans, lending processes, sales, and budgeting while maintaining a positive relationship with all internal departments.
The position allows for advancement to an Assistant Vice President position and higher pay grade when branch or combination of managed branches meets deposit and loan portfolio sizes outlined below and the individual consistently demonstrates leadership, knowledge, and expertise in the position and in the community.
NOTE:
To obtain employee engagement and retention, within the Customer Service department, and continue to offer top level service while growing our branches, it is imperative that we have well trained employees at all levels. The 6‑month position guideline is in place to ensure we are setting all our employees up for success. To apply for another position, employees will need to be in their current role/branch for at least 6 months.
Further discussion with a Customer Service Officer can be made for potential exceptions.
- Manage all areas of staffing including but not limited to answering interviewing, selecting and training employees, preparing and conducting employee performance evaluations, setting and adjusting employee pay rates and work schedules, delegating and directing the work of employees, maintaining accurate employee records, and handling employee/customer concerns and issues as necessary.
- Ensure customer service standards and needs‑based sales philosophy are upheld, including employee coaching and development to service standards and development towards reaching individual and branch sales goals.
- Represent UBT as a positive role model which includes fostering a fun, professional work environment and strong relationships across all areas of the bank.
- Proactively participate in ongoing trainings and meetings, lead in communicating all updates, changes, and announcements to branch staff.
- Oversee the branch budget, efficiency targets, and attrition ratios. Maintain the branch's BCP, training and upkeep of the divisions business continuity plans, and overall branch operations.
- Lead by example in business development, including business visits to existing and potential new business customers.
- Lead by example in community involvement by being an active member in the branch community, ensure the branch's community involvement calendar is updated annually, and encourage staff to participate in various community involvement activities that build UBT brand's recognition.
- Maintain knowledge in areas of teller, new accounts, loans, and overall branch operations.
- Ensure employees are trained and comply with bank policy, laws, and regulations applicable to their roles. Monitor employees with internal controls and address employee performance issues if needed.
- Understand and adhere to all bank policies, laws, and regulations applicable to their role. Complete compliance training; follow internal processes and controls as required.
- Report all compliance issues, violations of law or regulations in accordance with the steps defined in bank policies.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Perform other job‑related duties or special projects as assigned.
- Minimum of 3‑5 years bank branch manager experience.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Proven leadership in the areas of retail, lending, sales, and customer relationships.
- Strong knowledge of Union Bank products, services, culture, and philosophy strongly preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products and working with other company software.
- Valid Driver's License.
