Registered School Nurse
Crete Public Schools is seeking applications for a school nurse to start September
1. Benefits include.
5 FTE family health insurance paid and sick and personal leave.
- At a minimum, must have completed a Registered Nurse course of study at an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience preferred, not required.
- Hold an unrestricted Registered Nurse License valid in the state of Nebraska.
- Comply with the standards for ethical and professional performance established by the State Board of Education.
- Satisfactory completion of criminal background check.
- Primary responsibilities include on-site health assessment
- Obtain health histories.
- Screen and evaluate findings of deficit in vision, hearing, scoliosis, growth, etc.
- Observe development and health patterns in making nursing assessments.
- Identify abnormal health findings.
- Develop and implement student health plans, including individual student health plans and asthma, anaphylaxis and diabetes self-management plans:
- Interpret the health status of students to parents and school personnel.
- Initiate referral to parents, school personnel or community health resources for intervention, remediation and follow-through.
- Provide ongoing health counseling with students, parents, school personnel or health agencies.
- Utilize existing health resources to provide appropriate care of students.
- Administration of the state's immunization program and school physical requirements
- Continual maintenance of cumulative student health records according to statutory requirements
- Work with children of various ages with varied medical issues
- Take appropriate measures in case of injury, communicable disease symptoms, signs of abuse or other condition which affect the welfare of an individual or group of students
- Provides meaningful communication and educates in areas pertaining to student health
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills and awareness of community services
- Train and lead the building's Emergency Response Team
- Serve as a role model to all students.
- Serve as a positive member of the community in a way that does not negatively affect the District's reputation or image in the community.
- Refrain from engaging in conduct that interferes with the operations of the District, including the education of students.
- Develop and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with other staff and administration.
- Adhere to all District policies, rules, regulations, and supervisory directives.
- Maintain confidentiality of information concerning staff, students, and parents in accordance with law and District rules.
- Adhere to the code of ethics of the District and the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE Rule 27).
Perform other tasks or duties as assigned by the Superintendent, Principal or other supervisors.
