Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee complex tax engagements, including planning, review, and delivery of federal, state, and local tax returns
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and primary relationship lead for key tax clients, providing proactive tax planning strategies and solutions
  • Provide strategic oversight for engagement planning, staffing, workflow management, and risk assessment across multiple engagements
  • Review and approve complex tax returns, work papers, and supporting documentation to ensure technical accuracy and compliance
  • Research complex tax matters and provide technical leadership related to evolving tax legislation and regulatory changes
  • Monitor legislative and economic developments and advise clients and internal teams regarding potential impacts and opportunities
  • Manage engagement financial performance, including budgets, realization, work-in-progress, and profitability
  • Communicate engagement status, risks, and key tax matters to firm leadership while recommending strategic solutions
  • Mentor and develop high-performing teams through coaching, technical training, and leadership development
  • Participate in recruiting, onboarding, and training initiatives that support the firm’s long‑term talent strategy
  • Support business development efforts, including identifying planning opportunities, expanding services, and participating in proposals and client presentations
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, referral sources, and community organizations
  • Represent the firm within professional and industry organizations as appropriate
  • Participate in firmwide initiatives focused on process improvement, innovation, and client service excellence
Qualifications
  • CPA license required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • 8–10+ years of public accounting experience, preferably focused in tax
  • Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations and compliance
  • Experience leading complex tax engagements and managing multiple client relationships
  • Strong tax planning and advisory capabilities
  • Proven leadership experience mentoring and developing staff, seniors, and managers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and strategic‑thinking abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality and efficiency
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with tax software preferred
  • Experience with individual, partnership, corporate, and other entity taxation
