About This Role

This Teacher Assistant opportunity at Hope Montessori Academy - Creve Coeur serves Preschool (3–5) and requires no formal credential — just relevant experience. Based in Creve Coeur, MO, candidates bring experience in early childhood education and development.

Hope Montessori Academy is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Teacher Assistant to join our team. The Teacher Assistant works alongside the Lead Teacher to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom where children can learn, explore, and develop independence. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children, values teamwork, and is passionate about supporting children's growth in a respectful and positive learning environment.

What You’ll Do
  • Support the Lead Teacher in implementing daily classroom activities and routines.
  • Foster a warm, respectful, and welcoming environment for all children and families.
  • Supervise children to ensure their safety and well-being throughout the day.
  • Encourage children's independence while providing guidance and support when needed.
  • Assist with preparing and maintaining classroom materials and learning environments.
  • Help children with daily routines including meals, toileting, dressing, rest time, and transitions.
  • Observe children's development and communicate important information to the Lead Teacher.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom.
  • Support children's social-emotional development by modeling kindness, patience, and respectful communication.
  • Collaborate effectively with teachers and other staff members.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events as required.
  • Follow all licensing regulations, health and safety procedures, and school policies.
  • Build positive, professional relationships with families.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience working with young children preferred.
  • Montessori experience or willingness to learn Montessori philosophy is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and coworkers.
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively participate in classroom activities, including sitting on the floor, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Must successfully complete required background screenings and drug screening.
