Leads continuous improvement of environmental management systems across all media, including air, water, waste, and pesticides, ensuring regulatory compliance and protecting Bayer’s license to operate. Build strong relationships with vendors, communities, regulators, and environmental stakeholders to support responsible operations and environmental performance. Develop organizational capability through targeted training, competence-based learning programs, and on-site engagement, fostering a proactive, sustainable culture across our operating footprint.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support North American Crop Science operations (including 365‑day sites) by acting as a strategic partner to build capabilities and competence with federal, state, provincial, and consensus environmental and HSE regulations, ensuring business teams maintain their license to operate;
  • Serve as a trusted partner to business functions, site leadership, HSE teams, and technical work teams to design and implement practical, cost‑effective solutions that reduce environmental and safety risks while meeting regulatory requirements;
  • Strengthen site compliance capabilities by helping sites establish, implement, and continuously improve compliance processes so personnel, contractors, and facilities consistently operate resilient, reliable, and sustainable HSE programs;
  • Lead and manage complex environmental compliance programs and technical projects, including regulatory agency engagement, internal audits, air permitting, waste and water management, pesticide and refrigerant programs, and capital project permitting (MOC);
  • Drive incident learning and continuous improvement by ensuring timely completion of incident investigations, root cause analyses, and trend reviews, defining and tracking corrective actions to closure, and monitoring external regulations to anticipate impacts on operations and implement appropriate regional controls;
  • Facilitate HSE management system assessments and risk evaluations, lead preparation for corporate audits and regulatory inspections, and coordinate responses and corrective action planning to maintain strong compliance performance;
  • Oversee environmental vendors and support sites in preparing permits and regulatory reports, ensuring compliance with air and other environmental requirements and accurate, timely submissions;
  • Provide HSE technical support for capital projects, new equipment, expansions, mergers and acquisitions, and site improvements, ensuring environmental and safety compliance is integrated into business decisions and project execution;
  • Develop and manage environmental and employee health and safety training plans, and maintain relationships with communities, environmental groups, and other stakeholders affected by the organization’s environmental performance to reinforce trust and transparency.
WHO YOU ARE

Required Qualifications
  • B.A. or B.S. in Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Management, or a related field;
  • Valid Driver’s License (To be eligible to drive a company car, your driving record must meet guidelines based on the company’s Risk Screening for Hiring Drivers – MVR will be reviewed as part of pre‑employment screening;)
  • Professional designations such as P.E., CSP, RSO, CIH, CHMM, or similar;
  • Willingness to travel up to 30–40% across the U.S. and Canada, including Hawaii and Puerto Rico operations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical background with 10 years of experience including developing HSE management systems;
  • Proven ability to manage large, complex projects, with strong outcomes focus, organization, and the ability to move swiftly to achieve objectives;
  • Experience managing complex environmental, health, and safety compliance programs and audit processes that evaluate and track compliance with applicable requirements, including leading and managing air permits and RCRA hazardous waste programs;
  • Demonstrated leadership and strategic planning skills, with strong leadership capabilities and the ability to influence and communicate at all organizational levels;
