Genetic Counselor Assistant - Oncology​/Hematology

This position will work closely with members of the genetics team to provide excellent and timely patient care by providing support for clinical activities to maximize the efficiency of genetic counselors' efforts. The Genetic Counseling Assistant (GCA) will perform numerous administrative and clerical duties and interact with the counseling office's patients and families and provide them with more information about the services and procedures at the clinic.

Responsibilities of the GCA include scheduling patient appointments, communicating with referring providers and families, database entry, billing investigations/prior authorizations, requesting medical records, and triage referrals.

Required

Education:

Bachelor's degree in medical sciences, psychology, or healthcare related field is required.

• Basic knowledge of genetics and interest in learning concepts of medical genetics
• Excellent written and oral communication skills at various levels of health literacy
• Exemplary organizational skills and discretionary judgement
• Working knowledge of medical terminology and Microsoft Office Suite
