Residential Support Worker
Location: Crewe, Cheshire
Salary: £37,824 (incl Sleep allowance)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Shift pattern: 2 on 4 off
We have an exciting opportunity for a Residential Support Worker to join a beautiful two bedded residential home for children and young people within the Crewe area.
You will be joining an amazing organisation that provides beautiful, safe and secure homes for children and young people aged 7-18 with backgrounds of emotional behavioural difficulties and associated learning difficulties.
The homes offer long term placements where children and young people receive a high level of nurturing and therapeutic care.
Children and young people are supported to attend school and activities and are instilled with confidence and life skills, aiming for the best possible outcomes for children and young people.
Residential Support Worker responsibilities:- Assisting in the promotion of good childcare practice in accordance with Elevated Living Policies and Procedures, Quality Standards and Every Child Matters.
- Providing care, support and supervision, including household tasks, cooking, shopping, laundry and independent living skills to the young people in their care.
- To maintain an environment of therapeutic care for all young people.
- To work restoratively with young people.
- To actively promote the welfare, safety, personal development and wellbeing of young people placed.
- To administer prescribed and non‑prescribed medication to young people as dictated by health practitioners and according to the young person’s Placement Package.
- To maintain good communication skills and written records.
- To liaise with significant others on a day‑to‑day basis, participating in the assessment of the young person’s needs and the implementation of placement plans and risk assessments.
- To promote the participation of the young person placed in the decision‑making process of the home.
- To ensure that the physical, emotional and psychological needs of young people placed are met where at all possible.
- To support young people by driving them to home visits, school and appointments etc. that is in or out of the local area and may involve long distances via motorways.
- To work in partnership with educational staff to ensure that the educational needs of the young people are met.
- Knowledge of child development and trauma‑informed care practices
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Level 3 Residential Childcare (desirable)
- Previous experience in a residential care setting or similar environment (Preferred)
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Accredited living wage employer
