Composite Technician – 2nd and 3rd Shift
The Composite Technician plays a key role in manufacturing high-quality composite parts in a fast-paced production environment. Working on 2nd or 3rd shift, you will perform hands-on assembly, fabrication, and machine operation while following detailed instructions and blueprints to ensure precise and consistent results. This role requires strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to work on your feet throughout the shift.
Responsibilities- Manufacture composite parts by following general instructions, sketches, and blueprints with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Perform assembly and fabrication tasks using hand tools and production equipment to create composite components.
- Operate a variety of equipment such as hand knives, automated power or hand cutters, injection mold presses, cranes or other lifting devices, ovens, grinders, drills, forklifts, tow motors, and other shop tools as required.
- Record all fabrication and machine operating parameters clearly and accurately for production and quality tracking.
- Use simple inspection devices including protractors, calipers, micrometers, measuring tapes, tension or weight scales, and gauges to verify part dimensions and quality.
- Conduct basic quality inspection and deburring activities to ensure finished parts meet specifications and quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, including routine cleaning tasks and proper storage of tools and materials.
- Partner with supervisors and team members to discuss and resolve issues that may arise during production, communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Apply basic math skills to measure, calculate, and verify dimensions and quantities during fabrication and inspection.
- Work safely and consistently in a manufacturing environment, including lifting and moving materials up to 45 lbs. using proper lifting techniques.
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements related to manufacturing operations.
- At least 6 months of manufacturing or production experience, ideally in assembly or other hands-on roles requiring strong attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and follow written and visual work instructions.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with supervisors and team members and to document work accurately.
- Ability to perform basic math for measurements, calculations, and production documentation.
- Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity for precise assembly, fabrication, and inspection tasks.
- Ability to lift and move up to 45 lbs. using proper lifting techniques.
- Ability to stand and work on your feet for the majority of the shift in a production environment.
- Steady and reliable work history demonstrating consistent performance and dependability.
- Willingness and flexibility to train on 1st shift before moving to 2nd shift as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience with composites, composite manufacturing, or composite fabrication is a strong plus.
- Hands-on manufacturing or production experience, including machine operation, mold machine operation, and assembly work.
- Experience with deburring, inspection, fabrication, soldering, or quality inspection activities.
- Mechanical aptitude, such as experience as an assembler, automotive technician, car mechanic, or performing tasks like oil changes and general mechanical work.
- Experience in environments requiring high attention to detail, such as nail technician, sewing, carpentry, or similar precision-oriented roles.
- Comfort working in cleanroom or controlled environments when required.
- Ability to read blueprints and use inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and measurement tapes.
- Basic English communication skills for reading instructions and communicating with the team.
- Existing security clearance is a significant advantage.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes related to composite materials and production workflows.
