Job Summary

Provides support to maintenance and/or machining depending on schedule requirements. Individual will participate in preventative maintenance and tool repair with multiple responsibilities of servicing injection units, providing assistance to machining, and general labor. Perform mechanical disassembly, troubleshoot, cleaning, assembly, drilling, tapping, grinding, preventative maintenance, and general labor. May work with engineering to resolve problems and participate in continuous improvement. Refers unusual situations to working leader/supervisor.

Job Responsibilities
  • Trouble shoot, disassemble, clean, repair, assemble, and test injection units.
  • Monitor status and inventory of injection units by communicating with technicians on a daily basis.
  • Layout, drill, tap, replace inserts, deburr, polish, and assist floor technicians in resolving minor tooling difficulties.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment in full compliance with internal, customer, and government regulations.
  • Works in support of maintaining the manufacturing schedule as directed by working leader/ supervisor.
  • Responsible for completing assigned preventative maintenance duties as assigned by working leader/supervisor.
  • Performs all duties, tasks, and responsibilities, as requested, efficiently.
  • Perform repair, refurbishment or cleaning tasks with metal and/or composite tools or fixtures.
  • Perform leak detection checks, welding, riveting, brazing, sanding, grinding, and other related hand tool operations to repair and/or incorporate minor engineering changes to tooling.
  • Utilize hand tools such as drills, routers, riveters, and sanders to perform tool repair or refurbishment tasks.
  • Check all work to assure quality standards and tool repair procedures are maintained.
  • Coordinate all change activity related to production tooling.
  • Coordinate release of tools for rework at suppliers.
  • Track tool location and verify required information.
  • Establish and maintain production engineering tooling processes.
  • Estimate and evaluate producibility of tools.
  • Create statement of work for tools being fabricated at suppliers.
  • Comply with the GKN Compliance and Ethics Policy on Contracting with the United States Government in all areas of responsibility involving direct and indirect contracting with the United States Government.

Job Qualifications

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent plus 2-4 years direct or related on-the-job experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills.
  • Basic math, blueprint reading, and good mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be willing and able to work in a team oriented production environment with concerns for meeting cost, quality, and schedule requirements.
