A key member of the Admissions team, the Regional Admissions Counselor located in the Twin Cities Metro must be enthusiastic, highly motivated, and able to articulate the values and benefits of a hands‑on, experiential learning environment in order to attract, recruit, and enroll students at the University of Minnesota Crookston. The position is regionally based within the Twin Cities metropolitan area and serves as a primary University representative throughout the region.
The Admissions Counselor will develop and maintain a strong recruitment presence across the Twin Cities metro by cultivating relationships with prospective students, families, high school counselors, community‑based organizations, and educational partners while supporting UMN Crookston’s enrollment goals and commitment to access, inclusion, and student success. The individual selected will represent UMN Crookston by providing high‑quality service to prospective students and their families while collaborating with campus partners to support students and advance efforts to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment.
This position requires extensive travel throughout the Twin Cities metropolitan area, including regular high school visits, college fairs, community events, and outreach programs, as well as occasional overnight travel to the Crookston campus and other regional recruitment activities. Flexible evening and weekend hours are required.
Full‑time, 12 month position
Responsibilities- Assist the Assistant Director of Recruitment with recruitment activities and outreach efforts in the assigned Twin Cities metro territory to help meet enrollment goals.
- Serve as a regionally located University representative within the Twin Cities metropolitan area to strengthen UMN Crookston’s visibility, partnerships, and recruitment efforts.
- Build and maintain relationships with high school counselors, community organizations, college access programs, and educational partners throughout the Twin Cities region.
- Conduct recruitment and outreach activities both in‑person and virtually, including high school visits, college fairs, information sessions, community events, and one‑on‑one student meetings.
- Plan and participate in recruitment and enrollment initiatives including open houses, admitted student programs, orientation events, regional presentations, and virtual recruitment activities.
- Promote UMN Crookston’s academic programs, student experience, affordability, and campus opportunities through presentations and individualized counseling.
- Meet with prospective students and families to provide guidance regarding admissions requirements, academic pathways, financial aid, scholarships, and campus resources.
- Monitor recruitment trends, market conditions, and student engagement data and make adjustments to recruitment efforts as needed.
- Review applications and assist in making admissions decisions based on academic qualifications and program fit.
- Engage in extensive communication with prospective students and families through phone calls, email, texting platforms, virtual meetings, and CRM communication campaigns.
- Meet established recruitment, application, and enrollment goals for the assigned territory.
- Utilize Slate CRM and other University systems to maintain accurate recruitment records and communication activity.
- Anticipate and respond to the needs of students and families from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and communities.
- Participate in advancing UMN Crookston’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful campus community.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training related to admissions, recruitment strategies, student engagement, and higher education trends.
- Maintain working knowledge of UMN Crookston academic programs, admissions policies, financial aid processes, and student support services.
- Collaborate with Admissions staff and campus partners to support enrollment initiatives and student success efforts.
