The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department. The individual in this role has a strong sense of ownership, identifies process improvement opportunities, and possesses excellent knowledge of GAAP and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Reconcile account balances and maintain the general ledger.
  • Prepare month‑end close procedures for multiple lines of business.
  • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.
  • Prepare, examine, and analyze monthly financial statements and accounting records; summarize findings.
  • Produce accounting reports and present results.
  • Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments and obligations; project future revenues and expenses.
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
  • Manage the accounting team’s day‑to‑day operations; assign work, coach, communicate expectations, monitor performance, and enforce policies and procedures.
  • Improve systems and procedures, and initiate corrective actions as needed.
  • Effectively handle and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline‑driven environment.
  • Support month‑end and year‑end close processes.
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
  • Prepare monthly closing journal entries.
  • Prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations to identify discrepancies.
  • Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
Experience and Education

Bachelor of Science in Accounting. 3–5 years of experience. CPA preferred.

Qualifications
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to direct and supervise.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Positive personality, attitude and professionalism.
  • Awareness of business trends and familiarity with financial accounting statements.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month‑end/year‑end close process.
Travel Requirements

Rarely – on average 5% of travel on a quarterly basis.

Physical Requirements

This position frequently requires standing, walking, pushing, pulling, moving, and lifting up to 25 lbs, bending, reaching, occasional ascending/descending, and repetitive motions. The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily.
