Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced, organized, and detail-oriented Import Manager to manage the purchasing and import process for our woven polypropylene bag and FIBC business, while also supporting the procurement needs of our domestic manufacturing operations.

This position will be responsible for sourcing woven polypropylene bags and related materials, obtaining and negotiating vendor quotes, coordinating with overseas suppliers, issuing purchase orders, managing freight and logistics, ensuring accurate import documentation, and coordinating with customs brokers and freight forwarders. In addition, the Import Manager will purchase ingredients, raw materials, packaging, and operating supplies required for our domestic manufacturing operations.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, commercially minded, comfortable working with international suppliers, and capable of managing multiple purchases and shipments simultaneously from quote through delivery.

Key Responsibilities International Sourcing & Purchasing
  • Source woven polypropylene bags and other imported products from international suppliers.
  • Request and analyze vendor quotations and negotiate pricing, payment terms, minimum order quantities, lead times, and other commercial terms.
  • Track orders from placement through production, shipment, customs clearance, and final delivery.
  • Communicate regularly with vendors and internal customer service team to ensure orders remain on schedule and specifications are met.
  • Work closely with the company's freight forwarder to arrange international shipments.
  • Monitor shipment ETAs and proactively address delays or logistics issues.
  • Review freight invoices and related charges for accuracy.
  • Maintain visibility of landed costs, including product cost, freight, duties, fees, and other import-related expenses.
Import Documentation & Compliance
  • Manage and review import documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates, and other required documents.
  • Ensure documents are accurate, complete, and received in a timely manner.
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical records of import transactions.
  • Investigate and resolve documentation discrepancies, customs issues, freight claims, and shipment problems.
Domestic Manufacturing Procurement
  • Purchase ingredients, raw materials, packaging materials, and operating supplies required for domestic manufacturing operations.
  • Obtain quotes, negotiate pricing, and place purchase orders with domestic suppliers.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce purchasing costs while maintaining quality and supply reliability.
Inventory & Cost Management
  • Monitor inventory levels and purchasing requirements across imported products and domestic manufacturing supplies.
  • Establish appropriate reorder points and purchasing schedules in coordination with operations.
  • Analyze purchasing and freight costs and identify opportunities to reduce total landed cost.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, importing, supply chain, logistics, or a related field.
  • Experience with international purchasing and ocean freight is strongly preferred.
