The Project Manager is responsible for the successful planning, execution, financial performance, and closeout of Distribution and Transmission utility projects. The Project Manager has overall accountability for project performance, including safety, quality, scope, schedule, cost, contractual requirements, client satisfaction, and administrative requirements.

The Project Manager plans and manages the complete project lifecycle for small- and large-scale projects and develops project-specific procedures and execution strategies based on customer, contractual, and internal requirements. Responsibilities include developing and leading the project team; coordinating with construction management, field leadership, project controls, safety, quality, engineering, procurement, subcontractors, and other supporting functions; and maintaining strong working relationships with utility customers and other project stakeholders.

The Project Manager is accountable for proactively identifying and managing project risks, maintaining accurate forecasts and project controls, communicating project performance, and ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contractual obligations and P&G Power requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Project Proposal
  • Define and understand the project scope, requirements, assumptions, exclusions, and key deliverables.
  • Identify project execution requirements, constraints, risks, and opportunities.
  • Assist in determining project resource requirements, including internal labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and other resources.
  • Coordinate preparation and review of bid packages, proposals, clarifications, communications, and transmittals.
  • Coordinate and complete project pricing sheets and supporting proposal documentation.
  • Develop and manage the proposal schedule to ensure timely submission.
  • Participate in proposal reviews, risk assessments, and project handoff activities as required.
Project Initiation
  • Review and understand the complete project scope, contract documents, specifications, drawings, commercial terms, schedule requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Identify contractual obligations, notice requirements, scope boundaries, project risks, and key performance requirements.
  • Develop the project execution plan, including project organization, resource requirements, communication protocols, and reporting requirements.
  • Develop and baseline the detailed project schedule in coordination with project controls, construction management, and other project stakeholders.
  • Establish project budgets, cost codes, forecasts, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Identify procurement requirements and long-lead materials and equipment.
  • Identify applicable permitting, access, outage, environmental, right-of-way, inspection, testing, and energization requirements.
  • Schedule, attend, and lead internal and customer project kickoff meetings, as applicable.
  • Establish project-specific risk and opportunity tracking and mitigation plans.
Project Execution
  • Develop, maintain, analyze, and update the project schedule to achieve critical milestones and contractual completion requirements.
  • Monitor project performance using applicable project controls and key performance indicators, including schedule adherence, Schedule Performance Index (SPI), earned value, productivity, and other established metrics.
  • Analyze critical path, float, schedule delays, and potential acceleration or recovery requirements.
  • Oversee the effective management and utilization of labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and capital resources.
  • Plan and participate in weekly progress, coordination, and strategic planning meetings with clients, field leadership, project team members, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Track, maintain, forecast, and control project budgets, costs, revenue, margins, commitments, billing, and cash flow.
  • Maintain accurate cost-to-complete and estimate-at-completion forecasts throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify, document, assess, and mitigate project risks, issues, and opportunities that could affect safety, quality, scope, schedule, cost, or customer commitments.
  • Integrate safety requirements into project planning and execution and coordinate with Safety and field leadership to ensure applicable P&G Power, customer, regulatory, and project-specific safety requirements are implemented and maintained.
