The Applied Skills Teacher must be able to perform the attached essential job functions and satisfactorily demonstrate the competencies for certified staff. Requirements:- Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education
- Hold and maintain current Indiana licensure for mild or intense disabilities
- Possess a basic knowledge of special education laws and regulations and can follow developed procedures
Provides special education services to individuals with disabilities within the school setting. Applied Skills classrooms support a variety of diverse student needs both in the special education and general education setting.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement IEPs specific to student needs.
- Facilitate case conferences for all students on the assigned caseload.
- Develop lesson plans in alignment with student IEP goals for education, employment, and independent living skills.
- Update and provide data-based quarterly progress reports.
- Mentor and train classroom and 1:1 paraprofessionals.
- Facilitate communication between all stakeholders.
- Promote opportunities for inclusionary practices for students with significant disabilities.
- Participate in all scheduled training throughout the school year.
- All other duties as assigned.
