POSITION SUMMARYThis position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Preschool Coordinator is responsible for the effective operation of some elements of assigned departments. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: program operation, program development and growth, participant satisfaction, participant and member retention and safety, community collaborations, and staff supervision.
The Preschool Coordinator is accountable for delivering exceptional and outstanding programs and service to YMCA members and participants in partnership with a larger team.
- Perform office work such as filing, copying, record keeping, and payroll completion, ensuring all necessary paperwork and forms are accurately completed.
- Support the Director in training and supervising assigned program staff and volunteers, ensuring consistent delivery of programming and procedures.
- Provide a nurturing atmosphere and safety for all program participants.
- Support successful onboarding of new children and families to programs.
- Maintain appropriate teacher‑to‑student ratios during programming.
- Monitor purchase and maintain necessary equipment through scheduled and preventative maintenance.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with parents and respond to all inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Adhere to the organization’s policies and procedures.
- Provide shift supervision while working 80% of time as direct service.
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and development of team members.
- Conduct team member feedback, corrective actions, and evaluations.
- Schedule and process payroll functions.
- Support campaign efforts and donor engagement in the community and among team members.
- Model relationship building in all interactions through Listen First.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Lead and implement curriculum within the established guidelines for Kids Zone, Kids Club, Summer Camp, and Kids Night Out.
- Support, supervise, and participate in program activities related to Zone, Club, STEAM, and Camp.
- Minimum 2 years of related experience working with children of diverse ages and cultures.
- Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED & First Aid and New Employee Orientation.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision; organized and detail oriented.
- Proficient computer skills in Office
365. - Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.

- Visual, auditory, and verbal ability to communicate effectively.
- High level of alertness, concentration, and initiative.
- Ability to lift 50lbs. and stand, walk, or sit for extended periods; occasionally stoop or bend.
