If you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students, this contract opportunity offers a rewarding chance to do just that. This role is tailored for skilled Sign Language Interpreters ready to make a direct impact in an educational setting. You’ll be working onsite, providing one-on-one support for a DHH student at a Head Start Center, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., for a total of 30 hours per week.
KeyQualifications:
- Valid Educational Interpreter Permit
- Proof of high school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of Human Trafficking Training
- Completion of Child Abuse and Neglect Training
- One of the following:
- Successful completion of the EIPA written test and score of 3.5 or higher on EIPA skill test, OR
- Proof of RID certification
- Experience working with children or students in an educational environment preferred
- Excellent communication skills, professionalism, and adaptability
- Provide direct one-on-one sign language interpretation for a DHH student throughout the school day
- Facilitate clear communication between the student and school staff, peers, and instructors
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards
- Support classroom instruction and assist the educational team with meeting the individualized needs of the student
