Piping Designer

Develop 2D drawings and 3D models for utility piping systems, specifically in natural gas engineering and design. Produce piping layouts, isometrics, equipment arrangements, sections, details, and material takeoffs. Design and revise utility pipeline crossings for railroads, highways, and other infrastructure. Partner with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver coordinated, code-compliant designs. Apply project specifications and industry standards, including API and ASTM requirements.

Perform field walkdowns, verify existing conditions, and incorporate design revisions. Resolve design clashes and support constructability reviews using 3D modeling tools. Ensure drawing quality, accuracy, and document control throughout the project lifecycle. Provide technical support to estimating, procurement, and construction teams.

Essential

Skills:

• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Micro Station.
• Strong understanding of utility piping systems and routing principles.
• Knowledge of industry codes and standards relevant to piping design.
• 2-10 years of experience in utility design/engineering.

Additional Skills &

Qualifications:

• Associate Degree or Bachelor's in drafting, design, mechanical technology, or engineering.
• Experience with Smart Plant or similar 3D modeling tools.
• Understanding of material selection and equipment interfaces.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $57.69/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
