Continuous Improvement Engineer Overview
Join a growing warehouse in Northwest Indiana as a Continuous Improvement Engineer. In this hands‑on role, you'll partner with operations teams to identify process inefficiencies, implement Lean solutions, and drive operational excellence within a fast‑paced warehouse environment. This is an excellent opportunity for recent engineering graduates or early‑career engineers looking to build experience in process improvement and Lean methodologies.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze warehouse processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Conduct root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Collect and analyze operational data to support decision‑making.
- Lead and support Lean initiatives such as 5S, Kanban, Visual Management, and Standard Work.
- Develop SOPs, work instructions, and process documentation.
- Monitor KPIs and measure improvement effectiveness.
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, and cross‑functional teams on process optimization projects.
- Support audits, process flow improvements, and continuous improvement activities.
- Utilize ERP systems and reporting tools to drive data‑based improvements.
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Supply Chain, Operations Engineering, or related field.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Office tools.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced warehouse or distribution environment.
- Internship, co‑op, project, or professional experience in process improvement, industrial engineering, manufacturing, logistics, or warehouse operations.
- Exposure to Lean tools including 5S, Kaizen, PDCA, and 5 Whys.
- Experience with ERP systems (Oracle preferred) and data‑driven reporting.
Hands‑on warehouse and distribution setting with a strong focus on safety, operational discipline, and continuous improvement. PPE is required, including steel‑toe shoes. This is a fast‑paced environment offering direct exposure to logistics operations, Lean initiatives, and cross‑functional collaboration.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Crown Point, IN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $36.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
