Reporting to the Ameri Corps Seniors Manager, the Ameri Corps Seniors Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the Ameri Corps Seniors Foster Grandparent (FGP) and Senior Companion (SCP) Programs volunteers including: volunteer recruitment, trainings, and supervision as well as quality assurance activities.

The Ameri Corps Seniors Volunteer Coordinator is expected to be an active participant in the agency’s mission, vision, and values. He/she shall work to ensure consistent, quality services to the agency’s constituents, demonstrate enthusiasm, initiative, and flexibility in assignments and maintain positive working relationships with all agency personnel.

MAJOR DUTIES :
  • Is responsible for the day-to-day management and oversight of the Ameri Corps Seniors program volunteers.
  • Conducts volunteer recruitment and all on-boarding, training, and retention activities.
  • Actively communicates with Ameri Corps Seniors Outreach Coordinator on all volunteer recruitment activities.
  • Gathers information about each volunteer’s skills, availability, and goals; matches volunteers with appropriate opportunities based on this data.
  • Schedules, coordinates, and assigns volunteers to appropriate departments, supervisors, and/or mentors.
  • Communicates with all departments of the organization to identify available opportunities and needs for volunteers.
  • Regularly communicates with volunteers to ensure placement is a good fit for individual’s skills and goals.
  • Maintains files, records, applications, and other data concerning volunteer program.
  • Drafts, maintains, and publishes guidelines, best practices, and procedures for volunteer program.
  • Coordinates volunteer recognition and appreciation events and activities.
  • Completes and is responsible for program reports, routine correspondence, office forms and other documents by designated time frames.
  • Monitors and identifies potential trends/problems related to the program and communicates issues and makes recommendations to the Ameri Corps Seniors Program Manager.
  • Ensures that program processing is compliant with all Federal regulations and with contract guidelines.
  • Designs and implements the required volunteer training components.
  • Conduct quality assurance activities including but not limited to volunteer satisfaction surveys.
  • Work directly with the Ameri Corps Seniors Program Manager to manage the fiscal operations of the program.
  • Attends and represents the Organization at trainings, networking activities, and meetings with other agencies as requested.
  • Addresses concerns and provides direct service to customers and other stakeholders in face-to-face settings, group settings, over the telephone and through e-mail.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings, staff training programs, and supervisory sessions and accept responsibility for aiding in the development of positive team relationships.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Ameri Corps Seniors Program Manager
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Non-Profit or Public Administration/Management, Social Work, Human Services, Human Resources or related field highly preferred but not required.
  • One-year experience in a human service setting.
  • Understanding of low-income and elderly populations.
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with customers, service providers, staff members and the general public.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
