Field Service Technician – Midwest
The Field Service Technician - Midwest will deliver an efficient and cost-effective service to customers across multiple states, including MN, IA, WI, IL, IN, and MI, with occasional overseas travel.
Responsibilities- Deliver efficient and cost-effective service to customers.
- Maintain OEM certification status through e‑trainings, classroom training, and hands‑on field tasks.
- Ensure maximum availability of INNIO gas engines and related balance‑of‑plant through fast response, troubleshooting, and fault rectification.
- Carry out scheduled maintenance to avoid unnecessary part replacements and engine downtime.
- Respond to after‑hours callouts timely.
- Take and label oil samples for laboratory testing in accordance with agreed standards and procedures.
- Select, order, and use parts correctly; return unnecessary parts to the warehouse to minimize waste.
- Maintain van stock in good condition, accurately inventory it, and notify the Parts Department upon usage.
- Maintain liaison and communication with the Service Manager, customers, and subcontractors on site at all times.
- Provide service reports and recommendations in a timely and professional manner.
- Protect and develop the industry standing of Clarke Energy by building and maintaining positive relationships with customers.
- Maintain a high level of site housekeeping and presentation.
- Ensure company‑supplied equipment is well maintained and kept clean.
- Keep tools in good and safe working order and calibrated as required.
- Support the Service Manager by supervising and training apprentices and new employees as required.
- Follow and adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental standards and regulations at all times.
- High level of skill working in the field with a minimum of 5 years field service experience.
- Large gas engine knowledge and experience.
- Electrical and/or mechanical knowledge.
- Willingness to travel extensively, work alone, and work overtime and on weekends when required.
- Will travel away from home up to 80% of the year (Monday – Friday).
- Reasonable level of IT skills.
- Desirable:
Power generation knowledge and experience, knowledge of reciprocating gas engines and engine overhauls. - Strong relationship building skills.
- Ability to supervise and motivate others.
- Effective communication skills.
- Commercial awareness – acts to minimize costs to Clarke Energy and customers.
- Effectiveness under pressure.
- Very adaptable and flexible – does what is required at the times and locations necessary.
Salary range: $35–$45 per hour. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401(k). Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship at any time.
