DescriptionThe HVAC Apprentice will assist with installing, and maintaining heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and boiler systems. Job duties and responsibilities include: assisting with HVAC service and installations including testing equipment, mounting equipment, performing diagnosis, adjusting refrigerant, and wiring controls; collaborating with HVAC Service Technicians to run service and installation jobs; assisting in replacing, repairing and installing HVAC and refrigeration units; power washing HVAC equipment units;
running performance maintenance calls; and other duties as assigned. Required education/experience includes a high school diploma or equivalent and enrollment in an apprenticeship program. Competencies include the ability to communicate with internal team and customers, follow written and verbal instructions, and use hand and power tools. Physical demands include the ability to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including electronic and diagnostic tools, recovery equipment, and various other HVAC equipment.
Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. This position requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those of medium work.
Work environment includes operating primarily alone on HVAC and boiler equipment in all environments, which includes extreme cold or heat depending on the time of year. Vehicles are used as the base of operations.
