Job Description

This is an entry level driver training role. The driver is responsible for learning to drive a tractor‑trailer or straight truck intrastate and/or interstate on local, over‑the‑toad (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes to deliver and unload various food and food‑related products to customers. All routes must be completed safely in accordance with company policies and Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). The Driver Trainee communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co‑workers professionally, ensuring all services and duties are executed in accordance with preferred work methods and customer service practices.

Functions as a team member within the department and organization and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.

• $80,000–$89,000 average annual salary
• 4 Day Work Weeks – Dispatch times range between 11 pm–4 am

• Attend and successfully complete the PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock‑to‑Driver Training Program; maintain all required training documentation.
• Ride‑with and assist driver trainer during deliveries; follow all instructions provided.
• Perform safety checks (pre/post‑trip) and inspections of tractor/truck and trailer per DOT regulations; report any safety issues or required repairs.
• Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines; immediately report any safety hazards.
• Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight; perform item counts and verify customer invoices; complete all required paperwork accurately.
• Drive to and deliver customer orders according to the predetermined route delivery schedule.
• Unload products from the trailer, transport items to designated customer storage areas, perform damage control checks, scan, and contact the supervisor as needed.
• Obtain proper signatures, collect money (cash or checks) where required, and load customer returns onto the trailer, securing the doors.
• Ensure that tractor, trailer, and freight are locked and secured at all times.
• Complete daily records of hours of service and enter them in the log per Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
• Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and keep trailers clear and clean; secure all equipment at shift end.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Valid CDL A license.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements.
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
• Pass post‑offer drug test.
• Pass road test.
• Attain or possess a current DOT Health Card.
• Ability to hand‑lift and utilize equipment (lift gate, two‑wheeler, etc.) to move or stack product cases/freight ranging from approximately 60 to 90 pounds.
• Internal PFG candidates: 1 year of service in good standing in the PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock‑to‑Driver Training Program, able to attain CDL Permit and DOT Health Card.
• External driver school direct hire: 0–6 months experience with a CDL license.
• External entry level hire: 0–6 months with a CDL license.

• Average annual salary: $80,000–$89,000.
