We are seeking a skilled Trailer Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience in maintaining and repairing trailers. This role requires proficiency in using power tools, understanding electrical systems, and the ability to read schematics. The successful applicant will be dedicated to providing excellent customer service while ensuring that all work meets high-quality standards.
Responsibilities- Perform preventative maintenance inspections
- Identify mechanical, electrical, air-system, and structural faults
- Carry out routine servicing on HGV trailers
- Prepare trailers for MOT inspections
- Complete legal safety checks in accordance with DVSA standards
- Order or request necessary parts and components
- Work closely with drivers, planners, transport managers, and other mechanics
- Welding or fabrication work on chassis & body
- Keeping maintenance records for all trailers
- Perform mechanical repairs and troubleshooting on various trailer systems.
- Assemble and maintain trailer components, ensuring they are functioning correctly.
- Conduct electrical repairs, including soldering connections and wiring.
- Utilise power tools effectively and safely for various tasks.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs and maintenance.
- Interpret schematics to diagnose issues and implement solutions.
- Fabricate parts as necessary to ensure trailers are operational and safe.
- Operate forklifts safely when moving trailers or equipment within the workshop.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in trailer assembly and repair.
- Familiarity with electrical systems related to trailers, including the ability to solder and work with wiring.
- Experience using power tools and understanding of safety protocols in a workshop environment.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics accurately.
