Position SummaryMCC instructors are higher‑education professionals who champion student learning. They engage and inspire students, applying innovative teaching and learning pedagogies in instruction. They assess student learning to ensure student success, staying abreast of trends in the discipline. Instructors collaborate as discipline experts, helping the College reach its strategic goals through active participation in college committees and by promoting the College to future students in the community.
EssentialJob Functions And Responsibilities
- Teach the assigned class in accordance with the learning objectives and Concourse syllabus using instructional strategies to engage students.
- Develop and manage the working syllabus, course materials, and assignments.
- Provide feedback and evaluate students’ performance throughout the learning process, including availability for student conferences before or after class and via College email if necessary.
- Maintain and submit class syllabus, grades and attendance records, and required course‑related data.
- Use educational technology (e.g., Canvas) to support course delivery.
- Assess student learning and submit required reports of assessment results.
- Maintain currency in the professional field.
- Work cooperatively within the department, the division, and across the College to pursue educational excellence.
- Course‑specific minimum qualifications are approved annually by the Board of Trustees and are available in all Academic Division Offices.
- Demonstrated teaching experience (preferred).
- Commitment to the mission of the community college and to teaching and motivating community college students in ways appropriate to their diverse backgrounds.
- Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.
