Special Education LBS1 Resource Teacher
Crystal Lake School District 47 currently has an opening for a Special Education LBS1 Resource Teacher. The goal of this position is to provide specialized instruction and support in various environments where students with disabilities have an opportunity to succeed in accordance with their Individual Educational Plan (IEP).
Duties and responsibilities include managing and administering an appropriate program of instruction for students identified as having disabilities, preparing an Individual Education Plan (IEP) for each child, monitoring and updating each Individual Education Plan using electronic IEP system, conferencing with parents concerning the Individual Education Plan, providing appropriate assessment and evaluation of each child's program, maintaining accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation, taking all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities, submitting required testing and updating information in a timely fashion, attending in-service programs in order to remain current in all areas dealing with special education disabilities, providing parents and teachers with suggestions on how to be more effective with children with disabilities, using appropriate techniques and strategies that promote and enhance critical, creative, and evaluative thinking of students, using appropriate instruction strategies and materials that reflect each student's culture, learning styles, special needs, and socioeconomic background, fulfilling the terms of any affected written contract and adhering to the Codes of Ethics and Principles of Professional Conduct of the Education Profession in Illinois, assisting in the enforcement of all federal, state and district regulations, policies and procedures, monitoring students in a testing environment, making all decisions and performing all tasks in accordance with District 47's policies and philosophies, ensuring compliance with Board rules and applicable federal laws and regulations, case managing students to ensure all specialized services are provided, and performing other tasks or services consistent with the job goal of this position.
Skills and experience required include a valid Illinois Professional Educator License LBS1 Endorsement, a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
Physical/mental requirements include demonstrating high levels of flexibility, interpersonal skills, articulation, concentration, confidentiality, and organization. Physical requirements include sitting, standing, bending, walking, and lifting equipment or material.
