Position SummaryWorld Languages is one of the divisions instructors are higher‑education professionals who champion student learning. They engage and inspire students, apply innovative teaching and learning pedagogies in instruction, and assess student learning to ensure students' success. They stay abreast of trends in the discipline, collaborate as discipline experts, contribute to college committees, and promote the college to future students in the community.
EssentialJob Functions and Responsibilities
- Teach the assigned class in accordance with the learning objectives and Concourse syllabus using instructional strategies to engage students.
- Develop and manage working syllabus, course materials, and assignments.
- Provide feedback and evaluate students' performance throughout the learning process, including availability for student conferences and communication via college email as needed.
- Maintain and submit class syllabus, grades, attendance records, and required course‑related data.
- Use educational technology (e.g., course management platform such as Canvas).
- Assess student learning and submit required assessment reports.
- Maintain currency in the professional field.
- Work cooperatively within the department, division, and college to strive for educational excellence.
- Course specific minimum qualifications are approved annually by the Board of Trustees and can be found in all Academic Division Offices.
- Demonstrated teaching experience is preferred.
- Commitment to the mission of the community college and to teaching and motivating community college students with sensitivity to their diverse backgrounds.
- Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.
