Perform functions to design, update and oversee production of automated machinery.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Model the right behavior in terms of initiative, compliance, moral character (honor, integrity and courage) and work ethic to create teamwork and mutual respect amongst employees.

3. Promote safety, environmental responsibility and continuous quality improvement in accordance with company policies.

4. Complies with all the policies and procedures set forth in the Company Handbook.

5. Conceptualize new machinery and automated operation.

6. Design, program, install, troubleshoot, repair and automate manufacturing equipment, including electrical control, servos, PLC’s, HMI’s, robotic controls, VFDs, network, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical components.

7. Design electrical systems for automatic machinery. Oversee building and installation.

8. Write programming for new automated equipment.

9. Analyze machine data to maximize equipment performance.

10. Upgrade/Reprogram existing machine programs for more efficient operation.

11. Collaborate with designers/draftsmen in conceptualizing new machinery, automated operation, completion of machine, and detail drawings.

12. Possess full working knowledge of sensing, safety and control systems used in industrial equipment.

13. Research and secure price quotes for automation and machine components.

14. Complies with NFPA 70E specifications.

15. Responsible for the completion of work instructions and operation documentation. Insure that electrical documentation is accurate and up to date.

16. Assist Maintenance and Production personnel with equipment repair or malfunctions.

17. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/JOB SPECIFICATIONS

The position qualifications and job specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or ability required to successfully perform the essential and additional duties and responsibilities of this position.

KNOWLEDGE

▪ Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field preferred.

▪ Degree 4 Broad knowledge of a discipline such as business, computer science, engineering, advanced medical technologies, graphic arts, social science, physical science, psychology, nursing, etc. Equivalent to a 4-year college education.

EXPERIENCE

▪ Degree 5 Over 5 years up to and including 7 years.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES

▪ Degree 5 Difficult work on highly technical or involved projects, presenting new or constantly changing problems. Duties require forecasting, broad conceptual judgment, initiative, and ability to deal with complex factors and ideas not easily evaluated. Makes decisions based on conclusions for which there is little precedent.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

▪ Degree 4 Under general oversight, works from policies and general objectives with little functional guidance. Rarely refers specific situations to supervisor unless clarification or interpretation of organization policies is involved.

ERRORS AND QUALITY OF WORK

▪ Degree 5 Probable errors or impact on quality may involve major expenditures for capital equipment, organizational effort, material or products, or loss of customer accounts. Duties may involve the recommendation of organizational policies and/or preparation and presentation of data upon which top management bases important decisions.

CONTACT WITH OTHERS

▪ Degree 3 Regular contact with others within or outside the organization furnishing or obtaining information. May discuss sensitive subjects and/or supervisory matters requiring tact to avoid friction and obtain cooperation; improper contact may negatively impact results. Primary responsibility rests with the next higher level.
