Industrial Electrical Engineer – IL

We are partnering with a well-established industrial manufacturing organization to hire an experienced Industrial Electrical Engineer who thrives in complex heavy industrial environments. This is an opportunity to play a critical role in designing and implementing large-scale electrical systems that power sophisticated material processing operations across North America.

As the Industrial Electrical Engineer, you will lead and support electrical design, implementation, and commissioning efforts for industrial processing systems and equipment. You will work closely with project engineers, suppliers, contractors, and clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to specification.

• Develop load lists and sequence of operations alongside Project Engineers
• Design single-line electrical power schematics and low-voltage power distribution systems
• Specify MCCs, panel boards, transformers, switchboards, and field devices
• Create electrical plan sheets, wiring schematics, conduit schedules, panel schedules, and BOMs
• Design HMI panels, HOA/JOA boxes, grounding systems, and operator interface solutions
• Perform engineering calculations to support system design and compliance
• Coordinate with mechanical and civil engineering teams regarding equipment layout, clearance, and structural loading requirements

• Prepare RFQs for electrical equipment and installation services
• Evaluate supplier and contractor bids and support purchasing decisions
• Provide technical oversight during installation, startup, and commissioning
• Support field troubleshooting and manage change order evaluations

• Ensure all designs comply with NEC, local codes, client specifications, and industry best practices
• Communicate with inspectors and regulatory authorities as needed
• Prioritize safe, reliable, and maintainable system designs

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• Active PE license in at least one U.S. state
• NCEES record preferred
• 7+ years of electrical engineering experience in heavy industrial environments
• Proficiency with Autodesk and Revit
• Experience designing low-voltage industrial power distribution systems
• Basic understanding of SCADA programming
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed

• Base salary: $95,000 to $110,000 annually
