Registered Nurses; RN

Overview

Crystal Lake School District 47 has an opening for a Registered Nurse at Hannah Beardsley Middle School. This position provides direct nursing services to students and staff to promote health and wellness. All duties are performed in accordance with district and state Board of Education policies, procedures, and state law regarding nursing practice.

• Provide direct professional nursing services—first aid, illness, and emergency care—to students and staff in response to nursing assessments and in accordance with professional standards, school policy, and state/local mandates.
• Administer medication and treatments with appropriate documentation.
• Maintain accurate medical records, ensuring compliance with state mandates for immunizations, physical examinations, and other medical conditions.
• Perform mandated vision and hearing screening procedures (requires state credential as a screener).
• Make appropriate assessments and referrals for suspected abuse or neglect as a mandated reporter.
• Maintain communication with the certificated school nurse, teachers, other personnel, and parents/guardians to enhance cooperative action that meets the health and safety needs of students.
• Contact parents regarding student absences, illnesses, or injuries.
• Monitor communicable diseases and conduct follow‑up contact as needed under the guidance of the certificated school nurse.
• Maintain student attendance records and prepare reports as directed.
• Complete accident/incident reports for students and staff.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding all school and health‑related issues.
• Maintain a daily log of student and staff visits and documentation on individual health records.
• Maintain the daily environment of the health office facility and supplies.
• Utilize existing technology effectively in performing duties.
• Perform other health or school‑related work as required.

• Currently registered in the State of Illinois.
• Completion of a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation program.
• Illinois Certification as a Vision & Hearing Technician (or enrollment in state certification class).
• Computer literacy and competency with existing technology.
• BSN degree.
• Active RN license.
• Experience in a hospital or similar acute care setting is preferable.
• Knowledge of HIPAA laws.
