American Traveler is hiring a RN
- Telemetry for a Med Surg/Tele unit requiring at least 1 year of Med Surg/Tele experience and a WI or compact RN license.
- 28-bed Med Surg/Telemetry unit with average daily census of 20-22 patients in a 100-bed Level IV Trauma Center
- Patient population is mostly geriatric with cardiac (CHF, chest pain observation), neuro (seizure/stroke observation, TIA rule out, altered mental status), and general medical diagnoses (COPD, respiratory/kidney/liver/GI issues)
- RN patient ratios are 1:4-5 on days and 1:6-7 (up to 1:8) on nights
- 12-hour night shift schedule ) for 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation is every other weekend
- Low census on-call requirement of up to 36 hours per contract
- Floating may be required to other Med Surg units or anywhere in the hospital where Med Surg patients are located, including ER hold and ICU, but only for Med Surg patient assignments
- Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing system
- Centralized tele monitoring supported by tele techs and central monitor at the nurse's station
- Active RN license (WI or Compact) required
- Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 1 year of Med Surg/Tele experience required
- Experience with NG tube placement/management, foley placement/management, chest tube management, Pleurex and other drains, wound care, and central line/port/midline blood draws
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation skills required
- Experience titrating drips within set parameters (Cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, Lasix, insulin)
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Candidate's middle name or initial required for consideration
- Candidate DOB and last 4 of SSN required for consideration
- At least 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required
- Provide direct patient care including ambulation assistance, wound care, and drip titration within a supportive Med Surg/Telemetry unit
- Charge RN carries a reduced patient assignment, with HUC support until 2300, 24/7 RT and Hospitalist coverage, and daytime OT/PT/ST support
- CNA support available for ADLs, vitals, I/O monitoring, and blood sugar checks
- Unit uses various patient lifts, including a ceiling lift
- Orientation includes NEO and one 12-hour shift on the unit to learn workflow
- Holiday coverage required for 50% of holidays per contract
- RTO requests must be approved through the manager
- Scrubs must be a solid professional color with no graphics, logos, denim, or designs
