Medical Assistant​/Vitals Technician - Cullman

Job Purpose

The purpose of the Medical Assistant/Vitals Technician is to help patients and physicians by obtaining and providing information, services, and assistance.

• Adhere to the current CCI annual standards pertaining to OCM and Portal measures.
• Support patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations.
• Educate patients by providing medication and diet information as requested by the provider.
• Assist the physician with medical procedures such as bone marrow biopsies and lumbar punctures.
• Arrange for hospital admissions or laboratory procedures.
• Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures, and by complying with legal regulations.
• Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping patient care information confidential.
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
• Implement pathology testing by completing order forms, arranging delivery of specimens, and maintaining up-to-date records of pathology requests.
• Obtain and record patients’ accurate height and weight at each visit.
• Obtain patient vital signs such as pulse, temperature, respiration, and blood pressure.
• Escort patients to rooms.
• Verify medication lists with each advanced practice provider visit.
• Adhere to annual CCI standards based on current criteria.
• Ensure all patient rooms are clean, sanitized, and prepared for the next patient appointment.
• Ensure compliance with all company, state, and federal confidentiality and healthcare regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Preferred one-year experience in a related field / position.
• Preferred Clinical Medical Assistant Certification or Clinical Nurse Assistant Certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS may be obtained after employment).

Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.

The position requires moderate physical effort, standing/walking for more than 75 percent of the day, and lifting objects that weigh up to 10 pounds. The position may include helping to lift or arrange patients.

This is not a supervisory position.
