Job Description & How to Apply Below

Cullman Diabetes Center was created to offer patients something more than a diagnosis—we want to provide a path forward.

As a dedicated diabetes education center, we provide Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES), Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT), continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) education, insulin pump support, and other services designed to help patients successfully manage diabetes and improve their overall health.

We are seeking an experienced Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) who is passionate about diabetes care and ready to take on a leadership role within our center.

This is not your standard dietitian position and will be limited to 32 hours per week.

In addition to providing clinical nutrition and diabetes education, the Diabetes Center Manager will oversee the day-to-day functions of the center, coordinate patient care and clinic operations, strengthen relationships with referring providers, and help identify opportunities to grow our services within the community.

We are looking for someone who can combine excellent patient care with leadership, initiative, and a desire to help the center grow.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide evidence-based Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and diabetes education to patients referred to the center.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to evaluate current diabetes-management practices, nutritional needs, educational needs, and barriers to successful self-management.
  • Provide Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES) within the Registered Dietitian’s scope of practice and in accordance with the center’s recognized diabetes education program standards and curriculum.
  • Complete initial DSMES visits, establish patient information and educational needs, and provide the nutrition education component of the program.
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to develop and support comprehensive patient care plans.
  • Work closely with Cullman Internal Medicine and area healthcare providers to strengthen referral relationships for diabetes education and Medical Nutrition Therapy.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations and patient flow of the Diabetes Center and help ensure an organized, efficient, and patient-focused clinical environment.
  • Monitor patient and clinic trends and provide meaningful metrics and reports to Cullman Internal Medicine leadership.
  • Develop relationships with healthcare providers and community organizations to increase awareness of the Diabetes Center and its services.
  • Participate in community outreach and diabetes awareness and prevention initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to expand services, increase patient engagement, strengthen referral volume, and support the continued growth of the center.
  • Stay current with developments in diabetes management, nutrition therapy, technology, and patient education while helping ensure continued compliance with applicable program standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or an appropriately related field.
  • Completion of required coursework and supervised practice through a program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
  • Current Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
  • Current Alabama dietitian/nutritionist license or eligibility to obtain required Alabama licensure before providing services.
  • Clinical nutrition experience with demonstrated knowledge of diabetes care and education.
  • Strong communication, organization, patient-education, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals while independently managing responsibilities within the Diabetes Center.
  • Initiative and ability to take ownership of day-to-day clinic responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience providing diabetes education and Medical Nutrition Therapy in an outpatient or clinical setting.
  • Previous leadership, clinic coordination, or program-management experience.
  • Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES)…
