Assistant Parts Manager
- Parts Manager Development Position

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant Parts Manager who is looking to grow into a Parts Manager role. This position is designed for someone who wants to learn all aspects of running a successful dealership parts department while working directly with management.

The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, organized, accountable, and willing to learn the financial and operational side of the parts business. The goal of this position is to develop the right individual into a future Parts Manager who can independently manage people, inventory, gross profit, vendors, and department performance.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Assist the Parts Manager with the daily operation of the parts department.

  • Learn and eventually take ownership of departmental financial performance and gross profit
    .

  • Assist with managing and coaching parts counter personnel and drivers.

  • Monitor parts inventory levels, stocking, special orders, returns, and obsolescence.

  • Assist with maintaining an effective parts pricing matrix and achieving department gross-profit objectives.

  • Monitor wholesale, retail, service, and collision parts business.

  • Work closely with the Service Department, Technicians, Advisors, and BDC to improve parts sales and customer satisfaction.

  • Assist with daily and monthly parts department reports.

  • Learn dealership accounting processes related to parts inventory, receivables, payables, and gross profit.

  • Assist with vendor relationships, purchasing, and negotiating pricing.

  • Help identify opportunities to increase parts sales and improve departmental efficiency.

  • Ensure accurate parts receiving, billing, returns, credits, and inventory control.

  • Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory.

  • Help maintain department processes and hold employees accountable to established standards.

  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.

  • Step in and manage the department when the Parts Manager is unavailable.

Development Toward Parts Manager

This position is specifically designed to provide a career path into the Parts Manager position

  • The successful candidate will progressively take ownership of these areas with the expectation of being prepared to step into the Parts Manager position as opportunities become available.

    Qualifications
    • Dealership parts experience preferred.

    • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

    • Strong organizational and communication skills.

    • Comfortable working with numbers and financial reports.

    • Strong understanding of parts inventory and dealership operations.

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

    • Strong computer and dealership management system skills.

    • Willingness to learn and accept additional responsibility.

    • Strong work ethic and ability to hold themselves and others accountable.

    • Must demonstrate leadership, professionalism, and a commitment to developing the department.
