Position Summary
The Quality Inspector is responsible for reducing risk and exposure by preventing the shipment of poor-quality products to customers. This position inspects incoming purchased parts, raw material, returned goods, pre-machined and finished machined parts, provides assurance of inspection documentation, witnesses and performs inspections and testing as required and assists in the development, maintenance and assurance of the Quality functions.
Responsibilities- Perform incoming inspections of purchased parts.
- Perform receipt transactions, inspections, tests, and reviews of vendor documentation related to receiving inventory.
- Perform and document detailed formal inspections.
- Perform and document first‑article inspections as required.
- Perform receiving, in‑process, and final inspection of returned goods related transactions as required.
- Maintain inspection documentation from receiving to final testing and filing.
- Audit processes to verify compliance with documents, policy and procedure.
- Perform contract review on special projects and coordinate outside third‑party inspections as required.
- Assist in supplying special documentation/data packages as needed.
- Work on root cause identification and corrective actions of quality issues.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Problem‑solving skills.
- Basic statistical skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong background in ISO 9001 or related quality standards.
- Extensive knowledge of machining, fabrication, and assembly operations.
- Two‑year technical degree or B.S. in engineering or related degree.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a quality systems control position in a manufacturing environment, driving significant improvements in quality metrics.
- Experience using statistical software (e.g., Minitab).
