Sr. Construction Manager, Data Center Construction
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles to help deliver safety, security, and scalable capacity at a low cost for customers.

This role is part of a team tasked with constructing Amazon Data Centers that set industry benchmarks for energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Responsibilities- Own project scope, quality, schedule, and budget for construction of new builds or general capital projects.
- Oversee construction management and related activities.
- Collaborate with Operations, Networking, Controls, Security, and Commissioning to build Data Centers that directly support customers.
- Lead in your specific discipline (construction management, building services, architectural, electrical, or mechanical engineering).
- Represent Amazon’s owner’s representative on construction sites daily, interacting with trades.
- Represent Amazon on multiple data center construction sites from start through hand-off to operations.
- Interface with general contractors during bidding, award, execution, punch-list, and closeout.
- Define construction project scope and issue requests for proposals.
- Negotiate with general contractors and evaluate bids with accuracy.
- Manage cost, schedule, and quality while directing contractors and vendors.
- Perform project management activities including documents, submittals, RFIs, change orders, invoices, quality, scope, and schedule.
- Lead root-cause analysis on equipment failures and drive resolution with construction teams.
- Support commissioning and integrated system testing and oversight.
- Support operations of installed facilities, including procedures, best practices, and maintenance initiatives.
- Support capital request creation and report construction progress and financials.
- Record and report key construction metrics to team members and management.
- Contribute to construction initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and resiliency.
- Provide constructability reviews for electrical and mechanical designs for new or optimized data centers.

Qualifications Basic Qualifications- Experience constructing electrical engineering systems including large-scale power distribution/generation gear, and mechanical systems including cooling systems.
- Experience in construction management or construction program management of large, complex projects involving large-scale mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) plants.
- Experience in project control (cost or schedule or both) and formulating construction programs for infrastructure and mission-critical projects, on-site and in preconstruction environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent, or 10+ years of construction or project management experience.
- Experience delivering environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance projects, including CWA 404 and NPDES permitting, groundwater protection, wastewater discharge, and natural/cultural resource evaluations.
- Experience in Project Controls Standards, including Estimating, Cost Management, Cost Forecasting, Schedule Management, Progress Measurement, Change Management, Risk Management, WBS/CBS/SBS, Cash-Flow (VOWD), and Benchmarking.
- Experience in environmental compliance and permitting, waste management, regulatory and liability assessments, environmental permit evaluations and applications, EIAs and water discharge requirements.
