The Parks and Recreation Department’s Recreation Aide is a year-round part-time position (no benefits). The position requires availability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays. This position is not intended to work more than 29 hours per week.
Essential Functions- Must be at least 16 years on or before hire.
- Completion of the tenth grade or an equivalent combination of education and experience. High school diploma or GED, preferred.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays is required.
- Experience as a cashier or with a point-of-sale system and some experience providing customer service is preferred.
- Experience working at or directing camps and/or clinics is preferred.
- Must possess satisfactory results of a criminal history background check.
- Possession of First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications, or the ability to obtain within 6-months of hire date.
Work is performed in a high public use recreation facility where loud noise and multiple events and activities at one time may cause a distraction. May involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. Tasks require the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).
Must be able to operate office and computer equipment. Special Events - outdoor work at times in inclement weather and the moving of heavy equipment.
