Amazon is seeking a Controls Engineer to design, program, and optimize automation solutions for advanced distribution centers in the retail network. In this role, you will develop and maintain PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems that power material handling, sorting, and packaging operations at global scale. You will lead commissioning, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive continuous improvement in throughput, reliability, and safety.
Partnering with operations, maintenance, and software teams, you will use data-driven insights to deliver innovative, customer-focused automation in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, program, and optimize control systems for Amazon distribution and retail automation environments
- Develop and maintain PLC, HMI, and SCADA solutions for material handling and fulfillment systems
- Integrate sensors, drives, robotics, and safety systems into automated distribution center operations
- Analyze system performance data to improve throughput, reliability, and energy efficiency
- Lead commissioning, testing, and validation of new automation projects in ADC facilities
- Troubleshoot complex control system issues and implement robust corrective actions
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and software teams to deliver reliable automation solutions
- Create and maintain technical documentation, schematics, and standards for control systems
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and implement automation upgrades at scale
- Ensure compliance with safety, electrical, and industry standards in all control designs
Required Skills
- PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar)
- HMI/SCADA configuration and development
- Industrial networking (Ether
- Net/IP, Profinet, Modbus, TCP/IP)
- Electrical schematics and panel design
- Motion control and variable frequency drives
- Robot and material handling system integration
- Industrial safety systems and standards
- Data acquisition and system performance analysis
- Controls system commissioning and troubleshooting
- Scripting or basic programming for automation tools (e.g., Python, SQL)
