Overview
The Assistant Chief oversees and manages daily operations of the National Audio-Visual Conservation Center (NAVCC) and has overall responsibility, as well as delegated authority for the oversight and administration of broad, emerging, and critical agency programs related to the preservation and access of the Library’s extensive moving image and recorded sound collections in digital and analog formats. With the Chief and the Administrative Office when appropriate, the Assistant Chief oversees budget planning and execution, workforce planning and management, policy administration, technology analysis, and operational and contracting processes.
Evaluates current operations and programs within area of responsibility, and initiates, modifies, recommends, and discontinues activities as appropriate. While working with Library and NAVCC leadership, sets priorities and directs the work of the NAVCC staff (regular and contract), ensuring that the work supports the mission and goals of the NAVCC, LCSG, and the Library of Congress.
