Key Job Responsibilities
- Track schedules for and completion of all generator maintenance across several different locations.
- Coordinate and perform twelve month and below generator maintenance assisted by other members of the Operations Service Team.
- Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical generators and fire/life safety equipment within the data center.
- Troubleshoot facility equipment.
- Perform limited maintenance tasks including filter changes, HVAC preventative maintenance, rack power installs, rack PDU, and rack ATS replacements.
- Provide support to Data Center Operations technicians.
- Perform root‑cause analysis of equipment failures.
- Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work.
- Write procedures.
- Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/logs (e.g., temperatures, voltages, currents).
- Utilize internal CMMS to manage building workflows and spare‑part inventory.
- Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance.
- Fully comply with all physical security procedures and policies.
- Drive innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities.
- Manipulate small wires and objects.
- Walk job sites on uneven terrain.
- Work in hot or cold climates.
- Work at heights and from ladders.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 39 lbs; participate in group lifts of 40 lbs or more.
- Bend or twist the body into unusual positions while working.
- Push or pull heavy objects into position.
- Work in noisy environments.
- US citizenship.
- Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility (to be maintained throughout employment).
- Experience performing routine maintenance on emergency diesel generators.
- Ability to coordinate and monitor vendor‑performed maintenance.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting generator issues.
- 2 years of relevant work experience.
- 4 years of data center engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Knowledge of network design and layout as well as low-voltage (copper/fiber) cabling.
- Experience in data center engineering.
- Ability to manipulate small wires and objects.
- Physical stamina to perform tasks all day without becoming overly tired.
- Ability to work at heights and from ladders.
- Skill in bending or twisting the body into unusual positions while working.
- Comfortable walking on uneven terrain.
- Base salary range: 37.00 - 65.00 USD hourly (VA Culpeper).
