Infusion Therapy Administration:
Coordinate and administer therapeutic IV treatments and infusions, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, and supportive care agents, following established protocols and guidelines. Monitor patients closely during infusion treatments; promptly addressing and managing any complications or adverse reactions. Manage complications associated with infusion therapies, such as adverse reactions or infusion site issues. Demonstrate expertise in the insertion, care, and maintenance of intravenous (IV) lines and central venous devices.
Ensure compliance with infection control practices and standards in the management of vascular access devices. Complete ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certification within the first year of employment. Maintain AHA BLS certification.
- Coordinate and administer infusion therapies per protocol.
- Monitor patients during infusions; document adverse reactions.
- Maintain IV and central line integrity; address complications.
- Adhere to infection control and vascular access standards.
- Complete required certifications and maintain BLS certification.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required.
- Experience: Prior experience in oncology nursing and infusion therapy preferred.
- Licensure: Oncology Nursing Certification – Preferred.

- Patient Assessment and Management of Care:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments before, during, and after infusion therapy.
- Provide thorough education to patients and caregivers.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team for individualized care.
- Lab Testing and Result Management:
- Analyze and interpret laboratory reports related to oncology status.
- Monitor pertinent lab results to assess eligibility for therapies.
- Maintain certifications on all lab equipment for point‑of‑care testing.
- Ensure quality control and regulatory compliance.
- Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate patient records, documenting infusion details, vital signs, assessments, and interventions.
- Adhere to documentation standards and regulatory requirements.
- Patient Care:
- Identify opportunities to improve patient care based on staff and customer feedback.
- Interview and advise patients on prevention of illness.
- Recommend community resources and monitor quality of core processes.
- Technical
Competency:- Obtain complete history and physical data on patients.
- Review patient records and perform full physical exam.
- Establish presumptive diagnosis, order labs and diagnostics, synthesize data.
- Provide age‑appropriate care.
The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.
Physical DemandsMedium to Heavy Physical Demand:
Constant standing, frequent walking, bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. For weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment.
- May require the use of safety equipment, such as HEPA mask, for infection prevention.
- On‑call responsibilities as directed.
- Ability to travel between campus buildings, remote facilities, and out of town as needed.
