UVA Specialty and Same Day Care Culpeper is seeking an experienced and licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant that specializes in Primary Care Family Medicine. Position highlights include practice hours from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with a schedule of four, 10-hour days. Rotating call coverage is required, and the position is outpatient only. This role is also eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness.
Responsibilities include the provision of Advanced Practice Provider services, including assessment and management of patients across various clinical settings. The role involves working in conjunction with the medical director, administrative management, nursing, and other interprofessional team members to facilitate patient care and management throughout the health care system. The position requires performing and documenting comprehensive health histories and physical assessments, formulating diagnoses, identifying problems and health risk profiles, performing and interpreting diagnostic studies, and performing procedures within the scope of practice and UVA Health System credentialing and privileges.
The role also includes ordering medications, treatments, and therapies in accordance with Virginia Prescriptive regulations, requesting consultation and initiating referrals to other health care providers, evaluating and analyzing patient responses to the disease process and/or therapeutic, diagnostic interventions, providing information, education, and support to patients/families regarding disease processes and treatment plans, participating in on-call responsibilities, managing patients in accordance with established UVA Medical Center and UVA UPG policies and procedures, reporting births, deaths, outbreaks of communicable diseases and other information critical to the patient's and/or the public's health as required by legal or governmental authorities, meeting quality standards as determined by the Medical Director and/or UVA Health System, serving on select committees as needed, participating in the clinical experience of students, participating in group, peer and other review activities, preparing and attending to all reports, claims, and correspondence necessary or appropriate to the performance of professional services, promoting the professional practice of the advanced practice group, following policies and procedures, accurately assigning CPT and ICD-10 codes, updating practice through continuing education, seeking professional development and growth opportunities, and performing other duties as assigned that are commensurate with professional service normally and customarily provided by a licensed independent provider.
Minimum requirements include a graduate degree from an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master's degree, licensure or license eligibility as an Advance Practice Provider, and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Current PALS/NRP and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required specific to the position.
Physical demands include standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive), repetitive motion of computer keyboard, proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills, attention to detail and ability to write legibly, ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs, and potential exposure to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
