Infusion Registered Nurse
Infusion Therapy Administration:
Coordinate and administer therapeutic IV treatments and infusions, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, and supportive care agents, following established protocols and guidelines. Monitor patients closely during infusion treatments, promptly addressing and managing any complications or adverse reactions. Manage complications associated with infusion therapies, such as adverse reactions or infusion site issues. Demonstrate expertise in the insertion, care, and maintenance of intravenous (IV) lines and central venous devices.
Ensure compliance with infection control practices and standards in the management of vascular access devices. Complete ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certification within the first year of employment. Maintain AHA BLS certification.

Job Summary:

Qualifications:
Education:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required.
Experience:
Prior experience in oncology nursing and infusion therapy preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details. Licensure:
Oncology Nursing Certification – Preferred. Additional Skills/Requirements
Required:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced and emotionally challenging environment. Knowledge of chemotherapy drugs, their administration, and potential side effects. Proficient in using electronic health records (EHR) and other relevant healthcare technology.
Competencies:
Patient Assessment and Management of Care:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients before, during, and after infusion therapy to evaluate their overall health and response to treatment. Provide thorough education to patients and their caregivers on the purpose of infusion therapy, potential side effects, and self-care measures. Work with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure patients receive comprehensive education and proper resources tailored to their care needs.
Lab Testing and Result Management:
Analyze and interpret laboratory reports related to patients' oncology status, ensuring timely communication of findings to the healthcare team. Monitor pertinent lab results to assess patients' eligibility and qualification for specific therapies, collaborating with the provider to adjust treatment plans accordingly.
