Chipton-Ross is seeking a Sr. Specialist, Environmental Health & Safety for a contract opportunity in Culpeper, VA.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
  • Must be experienced in OSHA 1910 General Industry.
  • 5 years’ experience working in an Aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • 5 years’ experience in OSHA 29 CFR 1910 General Industry.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills are essential, as is the ability to work within a high pressure and fast‑paced environment.
  • Served as interface and liaisons with employees, manager, customers, auditors, and regulators.
  • An ideal candidate would be highly self‑motivated and analytical with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Read and understand facility site schematics and building design plans.
  • Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Process Safety Management (PSM).
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and GIS software such as ArcGIS and Arc Map.
  • Knowledgeable in munitions, explosives, and energetic materials, and related disciplines, the effects of munitions, the means of preventing or reducing explosive mishaps, and the relationship between quantity‑distance siting criteria and personnel safety.
  • High level of communication skills and an understanding of escalation requirements to higher authorities.
  • Experience and/or training knowledge of Confined Spaces, Fall Protection, Lock Out Tag Out, Machine Guarding, Electrical Safety NFPA 70E and Propellant, Energetics & Pyrotechnics.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work performed under limited supervision.
  • Perform hazard analysis and risk assessments.
  • Assists in accident investigations and recommends corrective actions.
  • Conduct routine audits and inspections to identify and eliminate non‑compliance issues.
  • Manage projects related to energetics and safety; including participation in incident investigation, risk management, and process hazard analysis.
  • Conduct training and communication campaigns to raise site‑wide awareness.
  • Serve as interface and liaisons with employees, manager, customers, auditors, and regulators.

Some travel required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in OSHA 29 CFR 1926 experience is desired.
  • Strong knowledge of standards, OSHA, OSHA PSM, NFPA, NEC, and ANSI including familiarity with applicable federal, state, and local regulations is desired.
  • Experience in project management is desired.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross‑function/cross‑site teams is preferred.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) 4145.26M is desired.
REQUIRED

EDUCATION:
  • Accredited Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
