Quality Inspector
As a Quality Inspector, you will be analyzing and verifying material and testing finished products to ensure they meet engineering specifications. The Quality Inspector will be well‑versed in product compliance and quality control processes to ensure safe implementation of both. Training will be provided.
Essential Job Functions- Verify conformance of raw materials and manufactured goods by performing procedures that include physical and mechanical testing plus optical and electrical readings in accordance with engineering documents and Mill Order instructions.
- Understand and implement product design specifications and identify non‑conforming products.
- Check for proper cable geometry and construction to ensure quality of the product.
- Perform scheduled calibration verification on work‑related tools and equipment.
- Effectively communicate with production supervisors when a product is isolated/tagged as non‑conforming.
- Collaborate with other departments within business unit which may require direct communication with customers.
- Understand and implement testing standards to ensure product conforms to job specifications.
- This position requires access to information which is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR); applicants must be a U.S. person defined as a citizen, national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, person granted asylee status in the U.S., or person admitted into the U.S. as a refugee.
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience in cable manufacturing preferred.
- Must be willing to work a swing shift. The swing shifts rotate every two weeks; the scheduled hours are 8am-4pm and 4pm-midnight.
- Must be comfortable handling equipment that uses electrical currents when testing.
- Must have strong data entry skills and demonstrate an effective understanding of charts and graphs.
- Experience with a wide variety of tasks that require precise motion with hand‑held equipment.
- Good prioritization and decision‑making skills.
- Good written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate with multiple departments and work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
- Ability to travel to customer and supplier locations (may require up to 10% travel).
- Must be willing and able to pass a post‑offer drug screen.
- Must be willing to submit to a background check.
- Must wear and use protective and safety equipment as required.
The work setting is primarily in an office with occasional exposure to a typical manufacturing environment that requires the use of personal protective equipment such as steel‑toed shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection. The physical demands represent those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to sit for extended periods of time, work with a computer and keyboard;
hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., machinery, sirens, and alarms); speak to express or exchange ideas with, impart oral information to include instructions; vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception. Must be able to walk and climb stairs and drive a vehicle.
